Writing
Watch this short clip and then have ago at writing a story of the video. I have had a go too. You could use my sentence starters to complete yours, or you could write your own.
As the darkness blanketed the city skyline, Jack watched the weary workers, huddled under their umbrellas, trudge past. He saw no faces as they shielded from the rain…or were they shielding from his sad, begging eyes, determined not to drop a coin or two. Some did though. Clink into the soft, well-worn cap they fell. Excitedly, Harry would greet the hand, but it was gone all too soon. No one wanted to stop. No chatting today.
Time to go, it seems Harry was hungry as he offered Jack the hat with a splattering of coins. Jack, too tired to argue, too cold to care, mounted his bike and within a second Harry had jumped onto the back.
They sped through, as fast as they could, puddles splashing up, rain pouring down, and wind blowing across. Every which way, the elements were on them.
Home at last, the coins tinkled into the vast jar. Jack sighed. Was it ever going to fill? Slumping back onto the bed, Harry became his blanket. Another day done. The dream. Mega City Motors…one day.
Another day. Another few coins. Clink, clink. Chink, chink, Clunk. The jar IS filling! The days are getting brighter!
Today, a beautifully bright day and as Jack and Harry venture onto new pastures one thing is for certain. Jack needs to let Harry know how special he is. Only one way to do that. He pours plenty of crunchy Wellbeloved dog food into a bowl and watches as Harry munches away with his face delving into the food. Before long he is rushing off into the countryside…
Here are my sentence starters:
As the darkness blanketed the city skyline,
Time to go,
They sped through,
Home at last,
Another day.
Today,
Moharnabs’s writing task
Mildred and Enid didn’t work well together but were put together. The teacher (Miss Hardbroom) was very strict so that didn’t help either. They used too much nightshade to substitute the sharp silverweed but they were not sure if that would do. They were humiliated because it might not work and then they would be the laughing stock of the school.
The potion wasn’t turning blue as it was meant to, but instead it was a light yellow colour. They knew this was wrong so they tried to hide it but little did they know they would go down in history. When the teacher came along she asked that why their potion was still yellow so they just said they were not up to speed. When witch school was over, they went home shocked and embarrassed. In fact, they were so embarrassed that they couldn’t get to sleep.
The next day, they were called into the head teacher’s office (Mrs Cackle). They knew it was going to be bad so they didn’t say a word. “Sit down,” said Mrs Cackle.
“Yes,” they said shyly.
“You have made the best potion ever, some kind of invisibility potion. Your pictures shall be put up in the wall of fame!”
Mildred and Enid were awe-struck. They thought they would be suspended or at least get a
detention. For the rest of the day they continued school and got their certificates.
Life led on, they both became scientists and invented many more potions.
Shona has been baking.
Shona made this cake yesterday.
Here’s how I made it:
Ingredients:
Butter 225g
Sugar 200g
4 eggs
Vanilla extract 1 teaspoon
Flour 225g
Method:
First, grease a cake tin with butter, using a tissue.
Next, I put in the butter and the sugar in the bowl and mixed it for 6 mins.
Then, I added an egg and mixed that together. You have to mix each egg, one at a time until you it looks ready.
Now it’s time to preheat the oven at 180 degrees celsius.
After, you add the flour and he the vanilla extract together.
Now you have your cake batter!
After get your cake tin and add the butter inside.
Put it in the oven for 1 hour if it’s the large one. If it’s the small one then cook it for 30 mins.
Enjoy!

I would love to know how these were made and how long they took!
